Calling out to all the grooms-to-be this summer!!

Summer defines the very core of an Indian wedding with colourful and vibrant hues embodying the vivacious ceremonies and rituals. Summer weddings are a vision to behold. But with the soaring temperature and sizzling heat, the very thought of dawning on a heavy sherwani, a three piece suit or any lavish men’s wedding outfit brings out perspiration, doesn’t it?

Why let the sun and heat play a spoilsport on this auspicious occasion? Put those summer blues away and make sure to celebrate your special day in all its glory.
Here is a guide to help the handsome grooms survive their summer wedding in style.

Well-“groomed” – top summer trends:
Gone are the days of over-ornate wannabe styles and heavily sequined suits. “Be yourself and be comfortable” is the mantra to be followed for a summer wedding. With the emphasis of portraying fashion as an extension of one’s personality, there has never been a better time for fashion in men’s designer wears. And it only gets more interesting! Today’s top trends depict classiness, comfort, ...
... luxury, perfect fit and style but in much toned-down manner.
Short Kurtas and bandis in light silk and breathable cottons teamed up with contrasting shades and fine patterns in jacket lapels, collars, cuffs and plackets are perfect for an engagement or Sangeet ceremony. Lightweight, printed achkans, sherwanis and Jodhpuri Bandgalas with lighter embellishments, and impeccable tailored linen tuxedos and suits are best for the wedding ceremony and post-wedding reception respectively. Adding a western touch to the ethnic wears is in vogue.

Flirt with colors:
Indian weddings are colourful; but when it comes to men’s clothing, Indian men’s preferences are decidedly limited. Most men seem to be opposed to trying out new colors or experimenting with different styles. They stick with their basic blacks and blues and the 50 shades of grey. But summer is all about softer colour palettes and light weight fabrics. Colours like taupe, lavender, grey and onyx black with the accent of gold are trending now. Also light pastels and endless shades of white combined with fine prints and flourishes create a perfect summer wedding outfit for men particularly if it’s an outdoor wedding ceremony.

Accessorize – wardrobe must-haves:

We often underestimate the power of the right kind of accessories to add finesse to any outfit. Even the top designer collections are incomplete without the right accessories. Bright colored pocket-squares, brooches, turbans, dupattas, kilangi, leather slip-ons or mojaris, - all these add the perfect finishing touch to the entire wedding ensemble.

Styling tips:
1.Clothes sticking to clammy skin and getting scratched and poked by pointy edged sequin is the last thing you want during your wedding ceremony. To avoid discomfort of irritated skin and clamminess its best to avoid heavy and tight outfits.

2.Most Indian men do not realise the importance of an impeccably tailored suit. Make sure you have your wedding suit custom tailored according to your body type to get the regal look. Avoid the generic!

3.Remember its summer; even in an air-conditioned room you are going to be sweating bullets during the ceremony. Don’t forget to carry a handy yet dapper pocket handkerchief.

4.Keep the look fresh and focus on accessories instead of heavy embellishments on the outfit.

5.Beards are the hottest male trends in the current fashion scenario so flaunt that beard. A well-groomed beard gives a regal look without even trying!

Overkill - major fashion oversights:
The biggest oversight by any groom is trying to look overly western in prim formals or overly Indian with elaborate and flamboyant suits and sherwanis. They tend to wear outfits that are too jazzy and over-fitted. They try too hard and mess things up.

Wear what suits you the best, be comfortable in your own skin, induce your own personality and style in your wedding ensemble. Remember style is a personal thing. You don’t have to look at male-models for inspiration. Be your own model. But most of all enjoy your own wedding in your own way.
