Contact lenses have developed throughout the ages since its first concept came to light with Leonardo Da Vinci in 1508. The modern age contact lenses produced commercially came to market in 1949. These were made of Plexiglas. A plastic kind material which is transparent in nature. These lenses could be put on for longer time like 16 hours. These lenses used to be fitted over cornea rather than on all the ocular surface. Here, ocular surface includes the white portion in the eyes.
