Later in 1887 German physiologist Adolf Eugen Fick constructed first successful contact lens. This lens was to be fitted properly over cornea of human eye. In his laboratory in Zurich in Switzerland, he first tried the lenses on rabbits, then on himself and later on a group of volunteer.

But, Fick's lenses had some draw backs also. They were large, heavy and could be put on for only few hours and not for longer time. In 1888 another German technologist August Muller manufactured his own lenses and corrected his own myopia.
