Stop Smoking Books

The self help section of any book store is huge. There are unlimited numbers of books on an endless list of topics. The Internet has even more selections available, plus links to other self help resources. For some, a book is a tangible anchor, almost a touch stone of sorts to help them refocus when they need, and to serve as a daily guide as they try to break this powerful addiction. Smoking is not just a bad habit, it is an addiction, one that will be hard to break without some form of help.
I personally love books, I collect them on a variety of topics. But, there are times when even I cannot get the information that I want out of a book- I can either not focus, or the author has missed the part that I consider relevant for me. And even with the best of self help books, there might be information that would be missing. Buying or borrowing stacks and stacks of books might not be convenient and who has the time to read all of those books anyway?
Self help books will be good if you have the time to read them, and if you can find the ones that will give you the widest range of information with the clearest ...
... language and the most pleasant reading experience. If you do not like the writing, you will not read the book, that is the golden rule of publishing. Know what kind of style will work best for you, and know which style will be the ones that will make you slam the book cover shut and never open it again. Preachy, know it all authors are a huge turn off for me, for instance, so those books would never work if I needed them for self help of any kind.
Books are not the only things available in the self-help section. Some people prefer the reassurance of a voice giving them advice and comfort- self help books on tape or on CD can be just the thing the busiest person needs to break their addiction to smoking. Self help smoking books are good, but only if you have the time to read them. Some are better done than others though with quizzes and fast facts in the margins, it might be best to consider a combination of the self help book and the CD to quit smoking.
Another option is hypnosis- which usually contains some recommendation to follow up with a self help book or tape to reinforce the hypnotic suggestion. Following directions is the only way to accomplish the goal of ending your addiction to smoking. Some people will have good, long lasting success with hypnosis and self help books, others will need something different. Only you know what will be good for you and what will never work. As always, make sure that you consult your doctor and get his advice when you start a stop smoking program.
