Since the last decade, the face of the World Wide Web is constantly being changed. There are a lot of web technologies that are being introduced with much higher features and benefits than the previous ones. Web applications developed using Web 2.0 technology has been proved the best of all. This technology includes many open source application packages among which, one is a PHP framework that was extended to meet the current website development requirements, which is known as Yii - Yes It Is. In 2015, the demand of Yii framework is increasing tremendously. Drupal:
Though Drupal requires less coding, it has many blocks. It is not extensible for those websites that are fully loaded with images, videos, flash contents, etc. and have high traffic. It restricts the caching with the APC and memcached, which results in a whole long process of rewriting slow queries.

Zend:
Zend is particularly chosen for the enterprise based websites. Its libraries are very complex and it requires much more time to learn because of its size compared to Yii. Also, it takes more time to develop any application.

CakePHP:
In the earlier versions, CakePHP was taken up by many developers as it had PHP 4 and 5 configurations. But, later it proved to be very slow for the applications requiring larger databases and the websites that had higher traffic. Also, it became difficult for developers to learn CakePHP’s newer versions as it impose convention.

CodeIgniter:
CodeIgniter is basically for those who are new to web application development that also if it is simple. It lacks security level and consistency compared to Yii. Also, it does not provide powerful cache support, automatic code generation, GII code generation, etc.

Kohana:
The biggest drawback of Kohana is the lack of IDE Code completion support due to which web developers are finding problems while coding. One who is having an excellent hand on Kohana will definitely choose it for application development as it is very strict to conventions.

Laravel:
Laravel requires much attention to maintain and organize the code regularly if the web application is large. This is the most common complaints that the developers have been doing for Laravel. Else, it varies from developer to developer, whether to choose Yii or Laravel.

Django:
It only restricts to the code customization for admin as it requires to override the inbuilt functionality. But Yii provides the set of code that can be customized according to the user requirements, which in turn, is easy to learn for the developers.

Conclusion:
It would be utterly incorrect to say that none of the above framework should be used in the web application development. But yes, since Yii has been introduced, it has more benefits and features that are helpful for the website developers to work on.
