Are there any advantages and disadvantages of white fillings?

Tooth colored fillings have several advantages which includes;

- Their color resembles that of a natural teeth
- Even though they take long when placing them unlike metal fillings, they bond teeth quite well
- In case of any damage, they can be repaired easily
- They harden immediately

Disadvantages include;

- They are costly than metal fillings
- Can also be discolored by foods and beverages. Also a bad dental hygiene can discolor them and may be prone to wear and tear easily
- The materials are not as tough as dental amalgam fillings (commonly referred to as metal fillings).
- They don’t work well in molars because the pressure exerted when chewing is too much for them.

Are there composite resin fillings alternatives?

Dental Amalgam is the best choice in non tooth colored filling category. They are less expensive and much stronger than white filling.
