The Effects Of Online Basketball Forums On Nba Coach Hiring And Firing
Online basketball discussion boards may control the future of an NBA coach that some NBA owners would probably like to admit. Online basketball forums are probably something NBA owners would probably not admit they like to read as often as they actually read these online basketball forums. If the fan base of a particular team is posting continuously about how a coach needs to be fired in an online basketball setting a proactive NBA owner can't help but notice such postings in an online basketball forum because he doesn't want to lose the trust of the people who are buying tickets.
Years ago online basketball forums and magazines were pretty much at a consensus about how John Calipari would be the next great thing as an NBA coach. These same online basketball publications argued that Calipari was just too big of a fish to remain as head basketball coach at the University of Massachusetts. These same online basketball sources were some of the very measuring sticks that the New Jersey Nets used when they made the decision to hire John Calipari as their head coach. In an ironic twist that often occurs some of these same ...
... online basketball sources were used to justify the firing of Calipari as Nets head coach as he was greatly struggling during his third season at the helm. Online basketball writers were not kind to the person who was chosen to replace Calipari either, that being Don Casey. Online basketball sources were quick to point out that Casey had little to no success as Nets head coach either.
Online basketball writers did go on to say generally good things about the Nets next hire as head coach. That head coach would be former Lakers guard and Sacramento Kings assistant Byron Scott. Online basketball sources would later go on to criticize Scott by saying that assistant Eddie Jordan would draw up most of the offensive player and do an overwhelming majority of the overall coaching. These same online basketball references can not deny that Scott did go to two NBA Finals as head coach of the Nets. The online basketball references can't deny that Scott has a very solid playoff record as a head coach either. Online basketball sources can often be wrong and contain a lot of hyperbole.
