Production of the all-new 2016 Mazda2, known as the Mazda Demio in Japan, has begun at Mazda's Hofu Plant No. 1 in Yamaguchi, Japan. It's been fully redesigned for the first time in seven years. After the Mazda CX-5, the Mazda6 and the Mazda3, the all-new Mazda2 is the fourth model to get cutting-edge Skyactiv Technology and Mazda's unique, powerful KODO - Soul of Motion design. The Mazda2 is one of Mazda's most popular products, with sales of over 2.4 million cars globally. This great new car will come to the Canadian market in early 2016.

The Mazda2 will be available in some markets with the Skyactiv-D 1.5, a new small-displacement clean diesel engine with excellent fuel economy and torque comparable to a 2.5-litre gasoline engine. Two lightweight, high-efficiency, direct-injection gasoline engines, the Skyactiv-G 1.3 and the Skyactiv-G 1.5, are available as well; and the Mazda2 has a new six-speed Skyactiv manual transmission, with an optional Skyactiv automatic transmission. The Skyactiv-G 1.5 is up to 20 percent more fuel efficient than the previous Mazda2 engine.

... feel, plus the brand's trademark driving pleasure. The headlamps are made to resemble the eyes of an animal, and the car's low stance gives it a sporty look. The body and the windshields are both slightly larger for better comfort and visibility; and the side mirrors have also been repositioned for a better view. Its sporty handling and responsive steering make it fun to drive as well as practical. The large tires are closer to the corners of the car so that they can grip the road better.

The finely crafted interior is designed to resemble the cockpit of a small plane, and it has plenty of space for passengers and storage. Seats are larger and more comfortable, and the whole car is about 10 centimeters longer, giving everyone more leg room. The standard interior is gray cloth, but the top of the range is a stylish cream, red and black leather seat design with chrome touches. You can also add optional aluminum wheels with gunmetal finish.

The Mazda2 has lots of convenient technology. A heads-up Active Driving Display in front of the driver and a large center display screen promotes safety and help keep you focused on the road. Additional i-Activsense advanced safety features include blind spot monitoring, a lane departure warning system, radar cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. The Mazda2 also has the cutting-edge Mazda Connect in-car infotainment and connectivity system. It makes it easier to use functions like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth while driving. It also provides Internet radio, including Aha by Harman. Navigation is available as well. There's a touchscreen in the center console, but it's deactivated when the car is in motion for safety. You can also control most functions through the steering wheel.
