In cricket more attention is given to bat and bowl and are consider as most important tool to play game. Cricket is a game which can be played anywhere. But when it’s played professionally then many other types of equipment are also considered as part of game. Like bat and cork ball, pitch is also equally important. At the center of the cricket field, this is synonym of cricket ground, there is a strip known as cricket pitch. Cricket field is a grassy ground. ICC (international cricket council) has mot fixed any dimension but restricted range of the cricket field (nearly minimum 68.5 from pitch to boundary) whereas the shortest boundary is of 65 yards (59.50 meter).

Length of Cricket pitch length is 22 yards and width is 10 fts. Between the two stumps a line is drawn at the distance of 1.22 mm known as crease. Crease is used to determine the ball delivery or batsman dismissal. At both wickets, line is drawn to check whether ball is delivered correctly or not. The distance of these wide lines differ in ODI cricket and test matches.
Well maintained and good condition of pitch play a vital role in good cricket. Pitch should be heighted from ground. There are different types of cricket pitch depending on the way of their construction. Its dependd on the type of Cricket pitch to make the game high scoring or low scoring. Here are some types of cricket pitch:
1) Green wicket:
The cricket pitch that has green grass is called green wicket. This kind of pitch is suitable for seam bowling. They can only be constructed in cool moist environment.
2) Bouncy pitch:
The pitch on which ball bounce and come to batsman fast is known as bouncy pitch. It’s very suitable for fast bowlers and stoke playing batsman to play on this kind of pitch.
3) Slow pitch:
The pitch that has no grass on it and ball doesn’t bounce on it is known as slow pitch. The ball comes to batsman at very slow speed. They are very suitable for spin bowlers. This kind of pitch is found in subcontinent.

Captain of the batting team, before the starting of the inning, may request for rolling of the pitch for a period of not less than 7 minutes. Before rolling, the pitch is sweeped first in order to avoid any damage to pitch because of rolling debris. If game is started then mowing of the pitch is done under the observation of the umpire.
