How To Show Your Dog Who's Boss
There are lots of ways of thinking on the best ways to train your dog. Whether you believe your dog should be allowed to sleep with you in your bed or if you think that your dog is a pet that should stay off the furniture, you can teach your dog basic obedience and commands.
If you are able to crate training your new dog or pup make sure that they understand the crate is their own personal space. Never use the crate as a punishment otherwise they will start to look at it as a bad place and will try to start resisting going inside of it.
When exercising your pet on a leash, never keep the leash too tight. A tight leash creates a counter pressure response and can cause the dog to become uptight or agitated. Your dog may then pull, rather than walk correctly on the leash. Being less restrictive with your leash hold will allow for a more pleasant walking experience.
Dogs swiftly learn whether or not you really expect them to respond to your commands every time or if they might be able to get away with not obeying on occasion. Don't send false messages! Don't give your dog a ...
... command unless you are prepared to follow through and insure your dog obeys that command.
Dog training sessions should occur at the same time each day, if possible. Dogs, much like children, can thrive on a set schedule. This pattern will promote a learning environment in which your dog is eager to learn at the given time. Sporadic training causes confusion within your pet and can prolong the training.
Not all dogs are happy around other dogs or people. The best way to train your dog to be more comfortable around other animals or people is to expose them to as many people and other dogs as often as possible, preferably earlier in their life. This will make them accustomed to being around others.
Your viewpoint on what really means a dog is "trained," may differ from your neighbor, friends, or even dog training instructors. Whatever your beliefs, by training your dog to follow basic commands and to obey your instructions, you will create a happier, safer home for you, your pets, and other members of your family. A dog food guide should be able to break down the advantages and disadvantages of providing pet dogs with commercial dog food. It should also suggest some alternative food list so that the every dog is given only the proper nutrients. Get these and more from Dog Food Secrets. Download a copy today!
