The towns in Suffolk County operate public busses for more local transportation, but the sprawling infrastructure of the island favors personal automobiles as its means of transportation. The winding parkways of the county make for pleasant drives through the suburban and more rural parts of the island, and the Long Island Expressway is a quick way to travel large distances east or west across the island.
Many of the homes on the island are fairly large and old pieces of property, but nearly all of them have been renovated or maintained to keep up with the times. Few areas in Suffolk have experienced any significant vacancies, so many of the homes have been taken care of and are ready for new buyers.
