Coming Up With Your Own Personal Style

Being fashionable doesn’t always mean being trendy. You don’t always have to keep track of what the latest fad is and follow it. Besides, not all fashion trends suit everyone. There are those that are designed for certain body types, sizes, and even skin color. Putting on something that’s unflattering is something you certainly want to avoid. There are just people who force certain trends into their look without even realizing that it makes their getup almost laughable.
You don’t have to follow the latest trends just to show you have style. You can certainly develop your own personal style. Here’s how:
Celebrate your body – And celebrating here means not being ashamed to showcase what kind of body you have. Fashion models who are almost skin and bones are not exactly the, well, models you should emulate when it comes to having an ideal body. This archetypal perception is what drives many women to crash-diet and go to extreme lengths just to have a reed-thin body. Be proud of your body and make it your own art canvas.
Choose your colors – Having your personal color scheme ...
... is part of what defines your fashion sense. To determine the right color or color combination for you, you have to consider your hair, skin, and even your eye color. Use your color palette as a guide when you shop for clothes so you can pick pieces that will really look good on you.
Pick a style trademark – You don’t have to (in fact, for your own good, you must not) look like all the other women who are into fashion. Choose something that you can wear regularly that can easily identify you as you. Whatever style you’re comfortable with, including accessories that go with it, can easily be your trademark, something you can do without even trying. In other words, as the famous expression goes, ‘just be yourself.’
Choose a style icon – If you don’t know exactly what style to put on, for starters, you can try emulating the style of a celebrity who has the same body type as yours. If everything she wears is something you like, then go for her style. However, you don’t have to get exactly the same outfits she wears. You’re only making her style as a starting point for your own. You’ll develop your own style eventually.
Know how to mix and match – You don’t have to break the bank to be in style. Find time to dig into your closet and look for old and unused pieces and see if you can match them with the newest pieces in your wardrobe. Since fashion trends come and go, and come back again, you may have certain pieces in your closet that have been breathed new life again, thanks to certain famous people who make them fashionable again. Be on the lookout as well for accessories that are just collecting dust in your closet or drawers and try matching them with your new outfits. Mixing the old with the new may just be eureka moment you’re looking for in terms of coming up with your own style.
