The Kentucky Derby is coming up, and everyone who loves horses or horse racing is looking at who the 2009 Kentucky Derby favorites will be. Part of the fun of the Derby is seeing what horse the early betters are backing, and then also seeing how that changes as race day gets closer. Websites like http://sports.legendz.com/ help you keep up to date until it's time to put down your bets and watch the derby.

Coming from West Coast, I Want Revenge is the top pick, with a good history of running on dirt tracks, like the sandy loam at the Derby. I Want Revenge picked the 13 post, which jockey Joe Talamo thinks will get started quickly. Pioneerof the Nile is running a strong second, after winning four consecutive races, but unlike top pick I Want Revenge, Pioneerof the Nile had no prior history running on a dirt track. He has been adapting well to the new surface in training, and picked the 16 post, where trainer Bob Baffert thinks he will get less dirt kicked on him.

Third and fourth place 2009 Kentucky Derby Favorites Dunkirk and Friesan Fire have been running neck and neck with early betters. Dunkirk, starting out ...
... next to Pioneerof the Nile in post 15, has been only lightly raced, but has won two of his three starts, coming in second in the third race. Friesan Fire is running from the number 6 post, and has been compared to last year's second-place finisher Eight Belles. Trainer Larry Jones is hoping to run a similar race, but without repeating the tragedy of needing to be euthanized on the track.

After the top four 2009 Kentucky Derby Favorites, the other horses have double digit odds, and the experts think these four are the ones to watch. With great colts like these, we'll all be on the edge of our seats!
