Many people fear cancer clinical trials. Often times it is believed that cancer clinical trials will offer sub-par treatment or the patient will be treated like a guinea pig and tested with no regard for their rights or health. Nothing is being done to change their cancer, they only think something is happening. In the end, the researchers will take the percentage of patients who made advances toward healing with the placebo treatment will be subtracted from the overall total of those who made progress with the actual treatment. This final number will help doctors determine if the treatment was any more helpful than the current treatment method for that cancer type.
