Set Amid Beautiful Vistas, Golf Courses In Ontario Beckon Enthusiasts
Imagine golf courses in Ontario without all the traditions, manicured fairways, stringent rules, and proper attire.
Can you?
Of course you cannot. To experience such a scenario you will have to go to what they call extreme golf courses.
A golf course resort in South Africa has a very special hole-19 with a teebox that sits nearly 430 meters above the green. You need a helicopter to reach the tee set at the 630-yard hole. And when you strike the ball, it takes almost 30 seconds for it to drop to the green below.
Extreme golf is all about meadows, forests, hills, and flowing rivers, all blended with adrenaline to produce a game of speed and accuracy.
Extreme golf has its own set of admirers. They are young enthusiasts looking for an alternative to restricted access, rigid structure, and prohibitive costs such as in traditional settings of golf courses in Ontario.
You even have a championship played in such an environment. World Ice golf championship is one such event played in Uummannaq, in Greenland, 600 km north of Arctic Circle.
This championship is held when both sponsors ...
... and weather are friendly to the tournament. In any case, people in this part of the world, legendary for their ability to survive in extreme conditions, are renowned for their smiles and hospitality.
As one golfer convincingly put it, “Extreme golf provides one of the most spectacular trips filled with unexpected sights and happening events. If you are a golf aficionado then nothing beats an extreme golf tournament”.
No doubt Uummannaq in Greenland is an adrenaline tour, but for all other regular golfers settings such as in golf courses in Ontario are just right.
As per Royal Canadian Golf Association, there are more than 1,600 registered golf clubs in Canada with more than 300,000 affiliated members.
Admittedly, with such numbers Canada has some serious quality with plenty of spectacle and excitement included.
Truly, as someone rightly said, Canada is where golf and Mother Nature join in harmony. With undulating terrain and tight twisting fairways Golf courses in Ontario are truly spectacular.
Toronto was Canada’s first championship golf course and was the benchmark against which all future courses would be measured.
Toronto Golf Club is the third oldest golf club in North America. They say it cost over $200,000 to build the course and club house with craftsmen brought from countries such as Bulgaria and Romania. It is even reputed that grass seed was imported from Finland to embellish the turf.
Golf Courses in Ontario offer a wide choice of superior settings with a selection of classic old layouts and modern courses.
The Golf Association of Ontario organizes over 100 events annually for all age groups and for both male and female golfers.
Golf is a unique sport that does not require a standardized playing area.
However, some say that golf a leisure activity closely associated with corporate success is in a state of recession.
The commoner may disagree, because they are used to seeing Tiger Woods on TV.
In the past people thought nothing of spending a whole day playing golf. Today most enthusiasts play a round early in the morning and get back home in time for lunch.
Hopefully we will see a resurrection soon.
GolfNorth Properties, the leading Canadian operator of successful semi private and public golf courses offers attractive golf packages at exciting golf courses Ontario including at Toronto Golf Club.
