Soft toothbrush when used along with toothpaste that has natural ingredients will clean your teeth better than a hard toothbrush under the same normal conditions.

Ideally, when you choose laundry brushes you want those made of sturdier nylon threads in order to take off the grime from your dirty laundry or those grunge and soot that accumulate in your kitchen sink or toilet. So it does make sense to choose a hard toothbrush to clean your teeth better, right? The reality is you are actually causing your teeth more damage compared to choosing a soft toothbrush.

The ugly truth

When you use hard bristles on your tooth, you scrape away the enamel in your teeth as well damage your gum tissue. The enamel is one of the four major components of your tooth, including cementum, dentin and dental pulp.

Most people think that by staying away from sugars that they get from softdrinks, candies and juices will help them avoid cavities. And they would be right to a certain extent since these foods can cause acids to form which in turn dissolves the protective coating of the teeth. But proper oral hygiene could not ...
... be overlooked. And aside from learning how to brush properly and to floss regularly, you also need to use a soft toothbrush over a hard one to reach those hard-to-reach places between the gum and tooth.

Types of bristles

Before, toothbrush bristles were made from nylon or natural materials. The modern nylon bristles of today can trace its roots back in 1938 when Du Pont introduced the nylon bristles into the market replacing natural bristles.

Dentists found out that using natural bristles can promote tooth decay because they contain animal hair which allows them to store bacteria. They also don’t dry as quicker as the nylon material. Although most dentists will recommend soft bristles particularly for patients with sensitive tongue, teeth and gums, there are also the exta-soft bristles which are ideal for old people and young children.

Natural toothpaste

You already heard about the natural toothbrush, but what is natural toothpaste? Certainly you can go the DIY route and make your own toothpaste. It’s quite simple to do and all you need is a combination of two or three ingredients such as the baking soda, grounded sea salt, peppermint or citrus national oil, vegetable glycerine and hydrogen peroxide.

But there’s a better and simpler way around the above natural toothpaste recipes: you just purchase herbal toothpaste products in the market and achieve the same, if not better, results. The herbal toothpaste mixes a blend of herbs that gives a unique flavor and kind of freshness that explode in your mouth. But this product also contains the most important element of all, the herbal toothpaste still contains fluoride which helps patients avoid multiple trips to the dentist due to cavities and overall brittleness of the teeth.
