Fire And Water Damage Queens Beset Church
Fires are a devastating incident for a home or any other establishment and building structure. It can consume materials in just minutes and can destroy everything in its path unless immediate fire control is established. On top of that, other forms of damages can occur as a by-product of fires, as experienced in New York and its boroughs. Smoke, soot and water damage Queens can be resultant damages after a fire incident and after the fire department have done their jobs in putting out the fire.
This is what happened to the Miraculous Medal Church in Queens just recently, where fires caused approximately $1 million in damages. The 60-year-old building at the corner of S. Wisner Street and Carlton Boulevard, still exhibit smoke and water damage Queens on the walls of the church sanctuary. The main part of the church was spared but was already minutes away from being consumed by the fire. Burning materials that were accidentally thrown inside a wastebasket apparently caused the fires. Fortunately, no one was injured during the fire. Firefighters arrived on time to stop the fire, which took 20 minutes to squelch. They remained ...
... on the scene for an extended period to ensure that no rekindles can occur, and to mitigate potential hazards. After everything was settled, parishioners volunteered to board up broken windows and cleanup whatever they can.
The fires occurred after a funeral for Queen's Elementary School Principal Ruth Fors, who died after losing a battle with cancer. Incense were used during the funeral services and according to investigations by a deputy fire chief, an extremely distressed and distraught individual, who they refrained to identify, accidentally dumped the burning materials in a waste basket. The wastebasket was inside a closet behind the altar, and was immediately consumed and caused the spread of the fire inside the sanctuary. The fire destroyed the church sacristy, causing smoke, heat and water damage Queens to the sanctuary and damaging sacred vessels and vestments worn by the clergy. It was a good thing that a parishioner and Jackson police officer chanced upon the fire at an early stage and was able to close the doors to the sanctuary and prevent further spread to other parts of the building.
Restoration work began to sanctuary, which was already blackened, torn apart and affected with severe water damage Queens. Remediation work are expected to take a long time as heaps of water-damaged, undistinguishable materials strewn among charred cabinets and other furniture inside the sanctuary. Walls are streaked with water and soot and the building will remain unusable while restoration work is ongoing. Inside the church, water damage Queens has completely destroyed the carpet and caused damage the pews, which will require extensive water damage restoration. Walls and ceilings would require cleaning and repainting. Alternative places for worship will be recommended to the more than 1,800 displaced parishioners. Insurance fully covers fire damages and coverage would be enough to fully restore the building for reuse by the parishioners.
As parishioners viewed the walls and ceilings that were affected by water damage Queens, they could not help but feel saddened to see the church where they grew up in this condition. However, many are still relieved that no one was hurt by the fire.
