Mazda Bongo Ampersand Are The Profile Modifiers Over The Years
The Mazda Bongo is basically a camper van series that is also known as Mazda E-Series and Mazda Access in different countries. The Mazda starts manufacturing Bongo models in 1966 in Japan and formed the basis for a long running Kia Bongo. The first Bongo series was a rear wheel drive van because it was designed as a load career and it used the same design till 1975, a ten-year period with no changes but then Mazda Bongo production was subjected to call offs because of the financial hitches and around the globe harsh CO2 emission standards set by the governments. It was the end of first generation due to some hurdles in production process of Mazda Bongo. Second generation of Bongo was introduced with broad spectrum modifications in 1977 but again with the rear wheel drive and center-mounted engine.
Mazda used a variety of engines in this generation from a 1.2 litre to 1.6 litre units with diesel and petrol variants. The third generation of Bongo was came in 1983 and stay in the market till 1999 and it was also sold under the badges of Ford and Nissan. ...
... Mazda launched it as E-Series in Australian market where as the Ford launched it as Spectrum in Asia and Nissan badge the Bongo as Vanette. The Bongo was massively redesigned by the Mazda motors and new extra efficient petrol and diesel engines were introduced from the 1.4 litre 2.0 litre petrol and than 2.0 litres to 2.2 litre diesel units. The brawn way version was also introduced in the same time span as of the third generation with the extra long wheel base.
Fourth generation of the Bongo was started in 1999 and still in the market under different names and badges such as the Mitsubishi motors’ are selling the Bongo under the Mitsubishi Delia badge while Ford and Nissan are using their specific badges. Bongo Friends was an interesting model launched in 1995 to 2005. The Mazda Bongo Friends models came in as an eight seater MPV in different variants as campers in the UK, kitchen fitted vans, auto free tops with elevating roof with two person sleeping capacity and flat top versions, all these variants in a single model of Bongo makes it a real shape shifter. As a camper van it has pre-fitted kitchens in the vehicles from the Mazda factory exclusively. Ford and other automakers also sold this model under their names such as Ford Freda in Japan.
The Friends fleet was come in different engine options from 1.8 to 2.5 petrol and 2.0 to 2.5 litre diesel engines. Engines were equipped with the turbocharged intercooler based eight valve diesel used until 1994 meanwhile WL engines were 2.5 litre diesel with a non turbo assembly remained in the production till 2002. WLT was another 2.5litre turbocharged unit used in Bongo models till 2002. The all new EFI technology was introduced by the Mazda in the Bongo engines to make some difference in fuel consumption and efficiency, EFI was installed in the 2.5 litre WLT turbocharged diesel engines till 2006. The most fuel efficient Bongo models are realistically offering over 30mpg but little less on an urban cycle. Air conditioning, climate control and electronic blinds were fitted as standard in all Bongo models. The Mazda Bongo is a versatile vehicle but the name always gives people a laugh too.
