What Makes Corporate Apparel?
Right from our schooling, we have been forced to wear dresses based on certain codes and this is just because of the fact that every organization must have a unique identity and its members should look homogenous. We are expected to wear a particular kind of dress at school, at work and even when we are playing sports.Much of today’s corporate culture is about building a brand and advertising. The best way to start building a brand is to frame a dress code for the employees. How many would recognize the name of the organization just by looking at the apparel worn by an employee of that organization?
The corporate apparel, of today, must not only suite the brand in terms of color codes or the logo of the organization, but it should also be comfortable to wear from the employee’s point of view. Normally cotton is the most preferred fabric when it comes to corporate clothing as it is comfortable to wear in all seasons and also because it is a natural fabric. It is believed that organizations, which have a pre-defined set of dress codes, the employees find it easy to identify themselves with the organization. ...
... So, it kind of helps the employees to bond better with the organization as well as lends an identity to the Corporate.
Today, the employees and corporate have become more pro to being fashionable and as such the corporate have realized the importance of fashion by including different sets of codes for their apparel. Say for example, earlier, the male employees of an organization were supposed to wear formal full length plain single color shirts, but today, the scenario has changed and many organizations allow printed checks on shirts and even blazers and ties. Some corporate have gone overboard and included and allowed the v-neck tees or informal shirts or skirts but also, have extended to encompass a whole set of accessories too. Business Shirts, Belts, pens, kerchiefs, towels, handbags, hats, scarfs and various other kinds of accessories too are now included on the list of corporate apparel when we talk about the dress codes of employees in any organization.
The corporate apparel of today is not just confined to dress codes worn at office and during office hours, but some of the corporate have also worked upon the dress codes at the various parties, functions organized participated by the employees. Some corporate also believe in spreading their dress codes and use the same apparel or accessories as gifts to non-working guests and awardlees as gifts. Most of these gifts bear the logo of the organization and also have similar colors and patterns of their organization.
