What would happen if Gordon Ramsey makes the world’s tastiest curry and forgets to add salt to it? That is exactly what happened to god when he created the most gifted batsman and forgot to add the “luck” ingredient. How else can you justify Rohit having a meager average of 30 and around 2000 odd runs in ODI’s from a 6 year career? You might not see any another player with pull shots like him. Plus, the ease and elegance at which he plays his shots has made cricketing legends turned commentators to involuntarily say adjectives like “dismissive”, “Lazy Elegance”, “Class act” multiple times during an innings.

All those who have seen him play the clean pull shot of Mitchell Johnson in the match against Australia during the world T20 match in 2010, the magic of his wrists at numerous occasions and the extra time that he finds in playing his shots would have undoubtedly seen Rohit Sharma being an inevitable part of the Indian team with many thousand runs against his name by 2013. Six years into his career and still hoping for Rohit Sharma profile to rise up to his calling has turned out like hoping ...
... that Hitler would be a good ruler who would conquer the world and make heaven on Earth.

In the year 2007 season he made his wonderful performance in Ranji Trophy. Those that closely watch Rohit play would agree that when one sees the way that he chooses to throw away his wicket, you feel like someone forgot to whisper the magic words into his ears “With great talent comes great responsibility…”

Well few times it’s been injuries, sometimes coming in late in the innings with only a few balls left, but otherwise he has got no one else to blame but his own “luck”. Opportunities have come his way more times than most other ill fated cricketers just by the flicker of his gift exposed at rare occasions and the perception unanimously held by the cricketing fraternity that he is the most gifted cricketer around and records could tumble if he consistently performs for the Indian cricket team.

Forget records and forget awards; if only Rohit Sharma would grab the opportunities and take responsibility we would get to see a good batsman in action who can single handedly contribute to India’s success in the coming years. The prayers of all the Indian cricket fans will be with Rohit.
