Camelbak has made significant improvements to their H.A.W.G and M.U.L.E. back pack hydration systems for the 2012 season. A category Camelbak invented - their refinements show load capability and better functionality for these core models - as they carry on to dominate the growing reservoir fed, back pack hydration category.

The M.U.L.E. and H.A.W.G. are acronyms that remain for "Medium to Ultra Long Endeavors" and "Holds Lots of Water and Equipment". The side pockets to the pack bag are perfect for a headlamp, flat repair kits, gloves, a light hat, spare batteries, multitool and any small things routinely used that you really do not want to open the primary compartment to research for. The deeper Petzl Ecrin Roc does not fit nicely. When not in use the factors of the helmet holder zip shut and the entire thing virtually vanishes. An outer pocket contains an organizer using a key lanyard and pockets, great for a tiny camera, memory card holder, multitools, snacks, etc. At the top of the pack is a convenient hypalon-zippered fleece pocket for media or shades. The wallet isn't going to accommodate full size ski goggles but will take bigger sports sunglasses like Oakley. The fleecy inside is simple on lenses.
