Traditionally, eating "3 meals a day" is the normal way most people think of managing their dietary needs. We all grew up with the breakfast, lunch and dinner as the way we scheduled our eating habits. With the increase in obesity, diabetes and other health related issues hitting the media today, many are turning to the concept that 6 small meals a day might be a better approach to managing your food intake.

Of course, diverting from the traditional methods requires an individual to decide what makes sense for them. If you are considering eating a more healthy lifestyle, transitioning to the 6 meals a day format may be a more natural fit. However, eating the right foods and exercise are also concepts that must accompany any healthy lifestyle.

The 6 meals a day concept makes sense as you consider the following:

In summary, 6 meals a day may be a better choice for some people, but not everyone. This method may be part of your overall strategy, and as with any lifestyle choice, must feel natural and compliment your daily routine, otherwise it will not be transformed into a long lasting habit.
