The Kolkata Knight Riders have come made more headlines than any other team in the Indian Premier League. One might chalk it up to the glitz and glamour that comes from being the team of the Bollywood superstar and the Badshaah of the Indian cinema- ShaRukh Khan or simply for to the fact that they went from zero to hero in a span of three years. Either way, the team is definitely the most popular one in the league. And you know what they say: There is no such thing as bad publicity. So even if the Kolkata Knight Riders team comes with its own controversy’s favorite child (I am talking about the great actor himself), it is still better than being less than mediocre and inconsequential. Shah Rukh himself has contributed eighty percentage of the sheer volume of Kolkata Knight Rider news and controversies. Here are some of Shah Rukh’s antics that are indirectly and directly related to the franchise.

• Shahrukh didn’t want to lose Umar Gul and Shoiab Akhtar from his IPL roster in 2010 and hence advocated the inclusion of Pakistani nplayers for the IPL season three which fuelled the wrath of the Shiv Sena members who ...
... had imposed the ban of Pakistani players in the first place.

• His clashes with Sunil Gavaskar and later on Saurav Ganguly also garnered much attention from the gossip craving media.

• That Shahrukh Khan is a chain smoker is no well kept secret. As a matter of fact he got into trouble for smoking publicly at the Rajasthan stadium in spite of the fact that public smoking has been strictly banned in Rajasthan since 2000. And this just one of the many incidents involving smoking in inappropriate places.

• Then there was the whole issue where Shahrukh alleged that the security guards were rude and aggressive to the extent of man handling his kids. Shahrukh needless to say, being the doting father that he is, did not take the incident sitting down. He reportedly got into a scuffle with security guards as well as the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) officials who backed them up.

I am sure most of you will remember the anonymous blogger who raised hell with his tell-all candid posts. This was a time when people were keener about the blogger’s stories than the actual IPL updates. It was a huge disappointment to many when it was revealed that Anupam Mukerji, a marketing specialist was behind the whole charade.
