Here are some interesting facts about the Spanish golden boy of football- Fernando Torres.
• His full name is Fernando José Torres Sanz.
• He was born on 20th March 1984.
• He started playing football at the age of seven. His debut position was that of a goal keeper.
• As a kid, he was largely inspired by the popular football anime- Captain Tsubasa.
• His father’s name is Jose and his mom’s- Flori. He has a brother who goes by the name Israel and a sister, Mari Paz.
• He has a very unusual nickname- El Nino, which means “the Kid” in Spanish.
• His football idol has always been Kiko, a former player for the football club- Atletico Madrid.
• Fernando Torres is the youngest football player to be given the Captaincy position of the main team at the age of nineteen.
• His very first goal while playing for the national team was the one he scored against Italy on 28th April, 2004.
• He married his girlfriend- Olalla Domínguez Liste, whom he has known since he was seventeen years of age, on 27 May 2009 in El Escorial, Madrid.
