Hearing his name for the first time, you get a fleeting image of this tattoo covered, slick haired, wise cracking, cocky ‘punk’ with his wrist bands and cut up jeans straddling his waist in a threateningly low position, barely held as a saving grace to others by a belt and chain. Well C.M. Punk in reality is not very removed from this imagery. But just like the saying “you should not judge a book by its cover”, it will be in fact a very poor judgment on your part to assume Punk is some silly teenager, shooting his mouth and challenging the big guns of the Wrestling household.

C.M. Punk profile is nothing to scoff at. He is recognized as the longest reigning WWE Champion of the modern era- a feat which has been achieved by only five other people before him. Besides this, he secured the World Champion status spanning over five different titles such as ROH World Championship, ECW Championship, World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Championship a record seven times; the World Tag Team Championship; and the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Punk’s on stage persona is that of an anti-hero. He has often portrayed himself as a hero with villainous instincts. His truculent nature has often picked a number of enemies along the way. Some of his on stage feuds with his nemeses have attained prominent statuses. His rivalries with John Cena and Wrestling legend Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson is legendary. Cena and C.M. Punk have been battling it out with each other for over a year now. The WWE has been working its way into molding Punk into a top level wrestler specifically tailor made for Wrestle mania 29. Now that Punk has become a household name, the company is planning to level out the difference between the superstars and hopefully bring a justified end to a saga. In December 2012, he took a hiatus to recover from the torn meniscus injury. He came back to retain the Championship title in the first week of 2013. Let’s hope he sticks around long enough to see it to the end with Cena.
