Land Rover 4.4-litre Tdv8 Diesel Engine Review

Land Rover 4.4-Litre TDV8 Diesel Engine Review
It has been almost more than 40 years, since the original Range Rover was introduced to the world as the first car offering the combination of luxury motoring with off-road ability. Back in 2010, the 40th birthday of the Range Rover was celebrated. For all these years, throughout its life, the Land Rover kept on evolving and updating its car. With the promise of increase in power by 15 per cent and fuel consumption reduction by 19 per cent, it launched the new Range Rover with 4.4-litre V8 diesel engine, replacing the 3.6-litre TDV8. The engine is using a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic torque converter, which retain high and low ratios for quiet performance. Most of the sales are dominated by the diesel but if you are a die-hard lover of petrol and have very deep pockets, there’s a 5.0-litre V8 engine, sitting on the top of the range.
It is supercharged and develops phenomenal torque and power. Highly devoted to the excellence, the Land Rover continues to improve the already extravagant cabin of the Range Rover. It received its hi-tech multi-function TFT dials and ...
... reclining rear seats with a bit more space in the rear in 2010. TDV8 model is the only one which received the new eight-speed automatic gearbox but the 5.0-litre supercharged petrol is retaining the six-speed automatic gearbox. All the models are enjoying the enhancements – a newly introduced Sand Launch Control function – to the Terrain Response System for out of the world off-road experience. The on-road credentials of the Range Rover are also enhanced by the Land Rover – the previously used two stage system was replaced by the new continuously variable multi-stage damping system – providing a smoothest and most luxurious ride.
One of the best features provided, is the air suspension – allowing the ground clearance to be raised for off-road experience or – dropping to improve the access to the car. There are three strakes appearing on the front and rear lamps and side gills of Range Rover – the Sports model gets only two strakes. Since 2002, the original twin cylinder rear lamp concept has been carried along – but the finer detailing is evident in the updated headlamps. It has a spacious boot with 994 litres with the rear seats in place; Rover is still retaining its split rear tailgate. Interior of the Range Rover looks so fresh and tempting, with large buttons and wood inserts, the dashboard looks sleek and solid. Full dashboard is covered in the leather along with the roof lining; seats are finished in semi-aniline leather.
As a standard it comes with a dual view front screen which allows the driver to view the satellite navigation while the front passengers can watch TV. The Land Rover is offering two engines for the Range Rover. There is a 5.0-litre V8 510bhp supercharged petrol engine producing 625Nm of massive torque, takes only 5.4 seconds to do a 62mph sprint; combined fuel economy is 19mpg with 322g/km CO2 emissions. Whereas Land Rover Diesel engine for the Range Rover is a 4.4-litre TDV8 313bhp generating monstrous 700Nm of torque, doing 0-62mph in just 7.8 seconds, combined fuel economy of 30.1mpg with 253g/km of CO2 emissions. All this performance would not make a difference to the engine and it still stays quiet. Both of these engine options get the Brembo Brakes which cope with them quite brilliantly.
