In the past decade, the world of toys has changed drastically. Today, there are more toys available than ever before. Many of the new toys are high tech and electronic. However, that does not mean that modern children do not still enjoy more traditional games and toys.

Studies show that providing children with a good mix of traditional and modern toys is a good idea. It is especially important to provide young children with educational toys. Studies show that children who are provided with educational toys from a young age are better developed cognitively as adults.

Some of the best educational toys are construction toys. They create spatial awareness, encourage creativity and help children to learn problem-solving skills.

Construction Toys for Young Children

As with all toys, construction toys should be age specific. For a toddler a set of plastic or wooden bricks is a good start. A hammer and peg set is also a great toy for a toddler. Other simple toys like stacking towers and stacking rings are very simple toys that involve construction skills. Most toddlers love playing with them.

Puzzles ...
... are not strictly construction games, but they do teach children that putting pieces together in a certain order creates something else. They also help to develop manual dexterity and hand eye co-ordination, so are a good addition to any toy box.

Slightly older children will enjoy more complicated construction games like Galt marble run. This game allows children to build a range of different marble runs. A marble run is an engaging toy that is simple enough for children from the age of three or four to play with. This is the sort of game kids will enjoy playing well into their teens.

Children that play with construction games are good with their hands. Importantly they also develop good creative and problem solving skills.

Craft Toys

Most people do not think of craft toys as being construction toys. However, some of them could fall into this category. Moulding clay, Connecta Straws and Bend n' Build Sticks can be used to make all kinds of things. Some children do not enjoy construction toys, but do enjoy craft toys, so they make a good alternative.

To find out more about, and buy your Galt marble run visit the Galt website. There you will find a great range of creative and educational toys.
