One Plate at a Time: How Aaroyaa Is Turning Waste into Purpose
It began at a party. Watching guests reach for stack after stack of single-use plastic plates, CA Megha Agrawal felt an idea take hold. Why couldn't disposable tableware be beautiful, functional — and genuinely good for the earth? That question, simple as it sounds, became the founding spark of Aaroyaa, officially registered as a company in December 2025.
Agrawal, a Chartered Accountant who had spent years helping grow her family business, drew on her travels and exposure to sustainable industries to craft a brand around two inseparable goals: eliminating plastic waste and creating dignified livelihoods for women. Today, just over six months from its April 2026 launch, the brand has delivered more than 100,000 products to customers across six countries — with zero plastic waste generated in its manufacturing process.

... (sugarcane fibre) and areca leaf. Each item is 100% biodegradable, designed to decompose naturally once its useful life is over. The company's manufacturing philosophy is built around minimal waste and maximum respect for natural inputs — an approach it describes as "eco-responsible manufacturing." Products are durable and leak-resistant, shattering the assumption that sustainable must mean fragile.
The human story behind the products is equally deliberate. Aaroyaa employs more than 50 women artisans, up from the first workshop established in 2025. The brand positions women's empowerment not as a marketing footnote but as a structural commitment — one it sees as inseparable from its environmental mission. By 2026, that number had grown to 50-plus empowered women across its operations, headquartered in Bagmugaliya, Bhopal.
The brand's impact framework is directly aligned with five of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals: Gender Equality (Goal 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (Goal 8), Responsible Consumption and Production (Goal 12), Climate Action (Goal 13), and Life on Land (Goal 15). For a company less than a year old, that alignment signals an unusually clear long-term orientation.
From its Bhopal base, Aaroyaa distributes via its own website as well as Amazon and Flipkart, offering free shipping on orders above ₹1,499. The company is also actively building B2B and bulk-order partnerships, targeting hospitality businesses and event organizers — exactly the segment where plastic overuse is most visible. Reviewers from that sector have already taken notice: Sneha Patil, a café owner, praised the durability of the cups and bowls, while event organizer Ashok Sahu noted the positive guest response to the brand's premium-feeling eco cutlery.
What makes Aaroyaa's trajectory remarkable is its pace. The entire journey — from the party that sparked the idea in July 2025, through R&D, brand registration, marketplace onboarding, and global reach — unfolded in under twelve months. Whether it can sustain that growth while holding to its ethical core is the question ahead. For now, every plate shipped is, quite literally, one less piece of plastic.
