Nothing piques a person’s interest like a controversial story or a spicy piece of gossip. That is why the paparazzi follow their meal tickets around like blood hounds hot on a trail, sniffing out a tabloid piece even when there is none. So we search, scratch the surface, dig deeper, till we have exposed all that is foul smelling to the atmosphere polluting the minds and common sense of the spectators. We sense an affair when it is just two friends going out for dinner; we hear a mispronounced word that we take to be an ejaculated expletive; we see an innocent signing that becomes an obscene hand gesture; all this stemming from the vivid imagination of a perverted human race.

Recently, English footballer and Chelsea attacking midfielder- Frank Lampard was the subject of speculation following a few candid remarks he made during the press conference. The tabloids raved about how angry he was at his club for not letting him play more. Lampard had expressed his opinion regarding the recent games and how he doesn’t want to be on the bench. He added that he understood that he will not be able to play in each and every game ...
... and that Chelsea victory remains his first priority. He also stressed on the relationship between himself and Andre Villas-Boas and went on to explain that though it is strained at the moment, the ideal thing to do would be to focus less on individualistic relationships.
There was nothing remotely controversial about what he had to express. The only crime that we can take from this is the fact that he cut straight to the chase without beating around the bush. What others saw as an attack on the authority of Villas-Boas, was in fact a submission of his desires and the admission of certain truthful heartfelt facts. This would be a perfect example of the adage “making mountain out of a mole-hill”.

Lampard has been a stand up guy so far. Previously he had led the team to victory beating Wolverhampton Wanderers by scoring the winning goal, the Chelsea manager had forgotten to thank him personally for the same. But he didn’t lash out like an attention craving prima donna. Instead he took it in his stride and decided to make Chelsea proud by coming off the bench more often. A person of Frank Lampard profile does not need to stoop low to get what he wants.
