Extensive penetration and contamination of the sewage happen to absorbent materials like wood, paper, and concrete when sewage damage was left untreated. This leads to the growth of disease-causing organisms that could affect the occupants of the building and bring serious damage to materials. The disease-causing microorganisms can produce noxious substances on properties and humans. High humidity occurs due to the large amount of water which enters the building that can be a factor for microbial growth on materials.
Indeed the negligence in treating sewage damage is a very huge problem. And we have to act on it fast. So there is the sewage damage treatment that saves the day.
Sewage damage treatment: Nature and Characteristics
What does sewage treatment mean? It is essential to determine its meaning so that we could understand its process.
Sewage treatment is a form of wastewater management that is the removal of sewage contaminants to create solid and liquid material in a form of sludge that is suitable enough for discharged to the environment. This sludge can be reuse when suitable.
Sewage water is a very complex substance. It has several chemical components such as: high alkalinity, high concentrations of ammonium, phosphorus, and nitrate, high conductivity and pH ranging from 7 and 8.
The sewage treatment: three-way process
Sewage damage treatment is a process with three stages: primary, secondary and tertiary stages. In the first stage, large solids are filtered and removed through screening method. These are then disposed to landfills. In the secondary stage, dissolved matter is then converted into solid by means of certain microorganisms that are water-borne and home-grown. Lastly, in the tertiary stage, the solidified dissolved matter will now undergo neutralization process and will be ready for disposal or reuse. Water will also undergo chemical and physical methods for it to be safe for people's consumption.
