The Renault Scenic – Best Of Its Type

In year 1996 when the first Renault Scenic arrived it claimed the invention of a new segment. As a mid-sized MPV the Renault Scenic did an awesome job by leading the market for several years before the other manufacturers realized how accommodating more space could benefit them by adapting their C-segment platforms. Space, robust build quality, practicality, value for money each little box has been ticked to make an excellent MPV and Renault’s expertise are clearly evident in its third generation. In the early years, the Scenic always felt more like an Espace scaled-down to form a hatchback, however, new Scenic has a Megane-like interior. To give Scenic more comfortable driving position, a higher roof and vertical steering wheel position is used.

To create a better road-view, windscreen pillars are moved further back. Comfortable seats are placed in a practical way so there is no end to the storage room. Improved knee-room for rear seat passengers is available due to the longer wheelbase. Sound insulation ...
... is so excellent that even the diesel versions are remarkably quiet. The sliding centre unit is not there anymore, great deal of inconvenience is faced while removing the rear seats. Trim levels are available in a wide range to choose from. Renault petrol engines are offered in three variations: 1.4-litre TCE with 128bhp producing 190Nm of torque, reaching 0-60mph in just 10.2 seconds and returns 38mpg, then there is 1.6-litre VVT with 108bhp producing 151Nm of torque. It reaches 0-60mph in just 11.3 seconds and have CO2 emissions of 174g/km returning the fuel economy of 38mpg.

The 138bhp 2.0-litre CVT engine for Renault Scenic produces 195Nm of torque, does 0-60mph sprint in just 10.3 seconds and has a CO2 emission value of 186g/km with 35mpg of fuel economy. Whereas Renault diesel engines are offered in two variations: 1.5-litre dCi with 108bhp produces 240Nm of torque, reaches 0-60mph in just 12.0 seconds and emits 130g/km of carbon. The other one is 1.6-litre with 128bhp producing 320Nm of torque, does 0-60mph in just 10.0 seconds and have CO2 emissions of 115g/km. There is a range of fuel saving features including variable displacement oil pump, a start/stop, a double water jacket in the head, low friction, UFLEX piston rings. For the 2009 Scenic, there are four equipment grades. The Extreme version has electrically adjustable door mirrors, electric front windows, electronic stability control, and 15-inch steel wheels, along with front, side and curtain airbags.

Expression models include rear window sun blinds, electric rear windows, rear reading lamps and folding tables. Dynamique models feature automatic headlamps, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, 16 inch alloy wheels and cruise control. Privilege models include rear parking sensors, automatic climate control, part leather seats. Dynamique TomTom models feature Bluetooth connection, auto headlamps and wipers, radio CD player with AUX and USB connection, rear parking sensors, extra tinted rear windows and tailgate, TomTom satellite navigation, 16 inch alloys and LED daytime running lamps. Scenic’s drive is surprisingly pleasant but the real deal is to carry things and people which is a piece of cake for Renault Scenic. So it makes out for most of the money spent, as a family car as well as a van.
