Computer Problems can be the first signs of hard disk failure or the start of something bigger if not attended.

How do you know, should you panic, or not bother until it breaks then get it fixed?

What if you're hard disk brakes and can't be fixed, you lose all your photos, music, emails, or worse.

You know a couple of easy checks can fix many problems such as:-

Fix file corruption / Flag up faulty disks

Viruses / Spyware

Slow computer

Remove crap files

Then you can take it a step further; and tweak your system to make it super fast - I know it's easy for me to say, I know what I'm doing, well I'm about to give you some top tips.

Step 1 - Run check disk, this checks your disk for file corruption and it will automatically fix it should some be found, you can also use the Bad Sector Check to test if your hard disk is having physical problems.

Step 2 - If you are using free Antivirus software, make sure you also run a proper firewall and spyware program that can monitor direct X and java code attacks from certain web sites, personally I prefer an internet ...
... security solution as they offer much more protection such as intelligent proxy servers that monitor all traffic and do algorithm matching for suspicious behaviour.

Step 3 - Make sure you have enough memory based on your operating system, stop indexing services on individual drives, clean out all the logged rubbish from your registry e.g. all your web surfing pages and downloaded files links etc.

Step 4 - There's a great free program called CCleaner, do a search on your favourite search engine, basically, this will clean out your registry and all your temp files, it's amazing the free space it retrieves.

All of the above should get your computer running like new again; these general steps will fix 99% of slow computer problems.
If you are still having problems, there's a good chance its virus related or spyware related and your product just doesn't cut it, If this is the case you need to do a search on the web for the best internet security package.

One thing worth mentioning is all the running programs down next to the time on your computer are using memory just to give you the choice to open the program quicker, for me I prefer to disable all these quick start programs, depending on the programs running, you can make a big difference to your computers performance.

Sometimes you just can't see what's making your computer run slow even after doing the above steps, if you are one of the 1% affected by this, you need to do a little more digging, this is what you need to do:-
Open you're Task Manager and select your process tab, this only shows all the running processes that are used by your log on, you need to tick the box Show processes from all users; this will let you see al running processes e.g. active running file or files from a program.

Look at the image name tab and starting from the first file all the way down to the bottom; type each name into your favourite search engine and check the first couple of links, this will tell you if the file is a good file or a problem file and how to remove it.
