One of modalities used for NJ Physical Therapy is electrical stimulation. Electrical stimulation is a Sports physical therapy method that passes an electrical current to a damaged area during the sports rehabilitation process. Nerve conduction within the region is altered, which can in turn alter muscle contractility. One of the purposes of using this is the reinvigoration of the muscle and the increase of the blood flow. The blood flow to the muscle tissues is also increased with electrical stimulation. Athletes often experience diminished pain after this electrical stimulation of treatment. This shift the mind and the nerves from pain stimulation and those messages in the mind to the focus on the muscle feeling produced by the stimulant. The most common electrical modalities used in the physical therapy center are simply pieces of equipment that are designed to take ordinary current flowing from a wall outlet and convert it to produce specific physiologic effects on human tissue. Sports therapy uses this to keep the muscle adjusted to the high level of athlete movement which will be resumed once the athlete is returned into ...
... full shape. One of the downside of the sports rehabilitation is the athlete is not accustomed the high level of movements and exercise they experience when they are in full athletic form.

Clinically, following surgery or injury, a NJ physical therapist uses electrical currents to create muscle contraction to increase strength and prevent disuse atrophy. One of the challenges of Sports therapy is the mental frustration the athlete feels when he is looking to get back into form. Through nerve or muscle stimulation with an electrical stimulator using high voltage, low voltage, or alternating current, stimulates sensory nerves to reduce pain. The stimulant or alternative of the healing process of injured tissue focuses on preventing scar tissue or interferential current, known as cold lasers can drive ions beneficial to the healing process through the skin into the healing connective tissues. Athletic physical therapy uses this modality as a part of the recovery process because it progresses the healing process past just the training and slow increase of the physical movements that the NJ Physical Therapist will put the patient through. For example, in sports physical therapy, the patient will go through swimming exercise, light running, jogging, weight lifting, and stretches specifically designed with the sport in which they are accustomed to playing, the sports physical therapy center is specially to train a variety of athletes.

Athletic training in conjunction with electrical stimulation is a continuous flow passive motion exercise mode that allows us to move the patient’s injured limb in a safe passive and comfortable manner that does not exert forces or exceed specified limits ordered by your NJ physical therapist. This continuous passive motion permits the earliest postoperative intervention helping to decrease joint effusion, swelling and increase range of motion to the effected joint or muscle.
