How Can The North Carolina Lemon Law Help You?
Have you recently purchased a new car, only to find out that it has more issues than you had bargained for--potentially enough to qualify it as a lemon? If so, understand that you are not alone. When it comes to lemon law, North Carolina has some very helpful statutes in place that could save you from losing thousands of dollars simply because you've been stuck with a lemon.
The five questions below will help you determine whether or not you have a case. If you answer "yes" to only one of these five critical questions, you could very well have a lemon on your hands and thus qualify for protection and compensation under North Carolina lemon law. If you find this to be the case, simply contact your local NC lemon law attorney for assistance. Having an experienced, qualified consumer rights attorney on your side will likely be the only way to remedy the situation.
1. Has the vehicle been to the shop four times or more for the same problem/defect?
2. Has the vehicle been in the shop for twenty or more business days for repairs?
3. Have there been six or more repair attempts made to various ...
... problems, even if more than one repair was made to more than one defect on one particular visit to the shop?
4. Has the vehicle been in the shop for a problem that was never properly fixed under warranty and it continues to exist now that the warranty has expired?
5. Has the dealer and/or manufacturer refused to repair or charged you for a repair to a particular problem that should be covered under warranty?
Keep in mind that the above questions may be used to qualify you under more than one lemon law. North Carolina has a number of regulations in place to protect victims of new car purchase scams that leave them stuck with inadequate or unsafe vehicles. Remember, you must have purchased your vehicle during the term of the manufacturer's warranty and/or the manufacturer's extended warranty in order to qualify for protection under the North Carolina lemon law.
