Our roads today are more or less potential hazards to all motorists whether you are driving for yourself or company. Driving is regarded as one of the most dangerous activities man is involved in today. It has become imperative that all motorist become conscious of this fact and that as long as they are not trained they pose a hazard to all other motorist.

Driving can be seen as a very simple thing to do and sometimes driving safely can be easily forgotten. This can be seen in many experienced drivers because they believe that they are a good driver because of experience. However, it can be very dangerous if an individual doesn’t take driving seriously. Therefore, whenever you turn the engine on you should always remember safety first and pledge this to drive safely.

The number one safe driving practice that should never be broken is that you never drink and drive. Drunk driving kills more people than nearly any other type of car accident. You should also avoid driving when you are under the influence of any illegal drugs, and any prescription drugs that make you drowsy or slow your reasoning or responses along ...
... with drinking. In order to keep the road a safe place for everyone, drivers, bikers, and pedestrians it is important that every driver on the road pledge this to be clean and sober.

The second thing you should always do is follow all the traffic rules. It may seem a huge restriction on your freedom to be required to adhere to a speed limit, but in reality, that speed limit is there to keep you safe, to keep you free from accident and harm, as well as protect those around you. Never drive the wrong way on a one-way street. Never roll through a stop sign or stop light, and don't try to stretch a yellow too far. Always be aware of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcycle drivers, as these are sometimes difficult to notice. So, if you pledge this to follow the traffic rules then more accidents on the road can be easily avoided.

Safe driving practices don't only apply to the things outside of your car, but inside your car as well. Today, it is a common scene that many people use their mobile phones while driving. This is one of the major reasons for road accidents. Therefore, everyone should pledge this to avoid mobile phones while driving.

If you are a teenage driver and will be driving for the first time, one of the things you should primarily consider is to drive with license. The license will be your assurance for safety aside from the fact that it can help you ease out troubles when faced with road problems. So, pledge this that you will always carry your driving license with you.

Finally, you must also teach others to follow safe driving practices. This will certainly help reduce the number of road accidents and make this world a better place to live.
