Social work is a form of professional service to the people, comprising a composite of knowledge and skills, attempting at assisting them, as individuals or groups or communities for attending satisfying relationship and standards of life in accordance with their particular needs, wishes and capacities and in harmony with those community.

Social work in its various forms addresses the multiple, complex transactions between people and their environments. Its mission is to enable all people to develop their full potential, enrich their lives, and prevent dysfunction. Professional social work is focused on problem solving and change. As such, social workers are change agents in society and in the lives of the individuals, families and communities they serve. Social work is an interrelated system of values, theory and practice.

Social work has emerged as one of the most demanding profession in India in the last few decades. If you are interested in social work India, you can always start working with a non-governmental organization (NGO) in any development area.

Social work has become a vital need of our society today with issues of disability, drug misuse, poverty, mental ill health, problems associated with aging etc. rising constantly. This would be the ideal career for you if you are willing to take up a profession for emotional fulfillment and if your purpose of working is not just financial.
