Three Items You Should Always Have In Your Car In Case Of A Vehicle Emergency

Accidents can happen; it is an unfortunate part of life. Many people do not prepare for accidents and when something occurs they are caught unprepared. It is especially essential to be prepared for accidents that can happen in the car. Any number of things can wrong with your car. Your battery can die, your tire can pop or your engine could stop working unexpectedly. If you are caught unprepared, these situations could cause a lot of frustration and in some cases cost a lot of money. Luckily there are items that are easy to obtain that will help you out of any jam that your car puts you in. Read on to find what three things you should keep in your car at all times:
Jumper Cables
Car batteries don’t last forever. Especially in older cars where the batteries are more conducive to dying. The charges become corroded or the battery simply let’s go. Batteries on new cars can die as well. Sometimes we forget to turn off the lights inside of the car. Or sometimes we forget to turn off the headlights. Whatever the case may be, it is no fun to be caught with a dead battery.
But just because your battery ...
... is dead doesn’t mean you need to buy a new one. Sometimes your battery just needs a jump to get started. That is why you should always keep jumper cables in your car. With jumper cables you can keep your car running even if your battery has died. Depending upon the jumper cables that you own you may need another car to jumpstart your battery, though some newer models of jumper cables come with a charger that will jump your car without the assistance of another car. All you need to do is attach the charger directly to your battery. With any kind of jumper cables in your car you can ensure that you won’t be stranded on account of a dead battery.
Spare Tire & Tools
A flat or blown out tire can sideline you just as easily as a dead battery. Sometimes small pieces of debris can lodge themselves into your tire without you noticing until it is too late. Or even worse, you could run over a sharp object while you are driving and pop your tire. Either way if one of your tires is out of commission then you won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
That is why it is so important to keep a spare tire in your car. If you keep a spare in your car you can be certain that you will be able to get back on the road if such an accident occurs. But it is not enough to have just a spare tire in your car. You must also have the necessary tools to put the spare tire on. Without these tools a spare is useless in case of an emergency. It is also important to remember that in most cases a spare tire is only a temporary fix. Most spare tires are smaller than your regular tires and are meant to be driven on for short distances. In any case it is still important to keep a spare tire in your car in case you have tire that needs to be replaced.
Extra Fluids
Any number of things could go wrong with your car, especially if you don’t have the fluids in your car checked regularly. Older cars go through oil quicker and can deplete the amount used between oil changes. If coolant levels aren’t checked regularly your car could overheat and stall. Or if mud or any other thick substance is splashed across your wind shield and you don’t have wiper fluid you may have to drive with limited visibility, which can be very dangerous.
That is why it is important to keep extra fluids in your car. If your car is older and it does go through oil quickly, then keep extra oil in your car in case of an emergency. The same can be said about coolant. If your car does begin to overheat because of low coolant levels then keeping extra coolant in your car can help you avert these crises. Keeping water in your car can also help you if your car overheats because water can act as a temporary coolant. You should also keep an empty gasoline container in your car. That way if you run out of gas, you walk to the nearest gas station and fill the container so you can get you r car running again. Keeping extra fluids for your car in your car is a necessity. By keeping extra fluids in your car you can be ready for any situation.
You never know when an accident may occur. That is why it is always better to be prepared. By keeping the three essential items detailed above in your car at all times you can be ready for almost any situation that life and the road will throw at you.
