Alaska Fishing Camps, Day Trips And Float Trips
If fishing is your passion, you’ll have the time of your life in Alaska where there’s plenty of opportunities for a good catch. However, the catch won’t even matter more than the fun you’ll have when you share this hobby with a party of friends or family in an Alaska fish camp, a fishing day trip or a float trip.
What’s In a Fish Camp?
A fish camp is a private fishing site found in the wilderness and comes with furnished housing for all fishermen. Among the many Alaska fishing camps, Beluga Lake and its feeder streams are some of the best. The site specifically lies at the foot of the Alaska Range’s Triumvirate Glacier, so you’ll have to take a 40-minute flight to get there. There are five species of fish you can catch, including Pacific Salmon, Arctic Grayling, Rainbow Trout and Dolly Vardin Char. A camp can accommodate eight people at a time, and may offer a guided service package for those who want help getting around and enjoying the site. You can also explore other activities, such as whitewater rafting, hiking and even glacier exploration.
Day ...
... Trip Fishing
Day trips to fishing sites are perfect for those who want to enjoy fishing with the bare thrills of nature. There’s usually an option to book guided Alaska fishing day trips in packages that already include food, fishing equipment, fish cleaning and vacuum packaging and flights to and from the area. Prices may vary, depending on how many people are joining the party, and whether or not they take the service package. For example, for salmon fishing, each person may have to pay $375 for a self-guided drop off and $420-475 for a fully guided trip. To fish from a float-equipped aircraft, one may have to pay around $650 per trip. The standard duration for an Alaska fishing day trip is 8 hours, but this may be extended when needed and with corresponding charges.
Fishing from a Float
Alaska float trips are another way to enjoy fishing in the area. A float trip is when you will be getting on inflatable rafts that float you downstream in waters that are rarely fished. If you prefer quiet time to the the natural sounds of the wilderness, this option is great for you. Of course, you’ll still enjoy amazing wildlife views, which will remain a wish for many. You can book a float trip for 3-7 days, depending on the location of the river, rentals and optional guide services. During a float trip, you will be completely outfitted with all the equipment you need, such as tents, cots and a propane kitchen. For a complete adventure, you can usually create a custom package that consists of float trips, base camp and other outdoor activities.
Coming out of those Alaska fishing camps, float trips or day trips, you’ll surely appreciate fishing from a whole new perspective.
