Nj Physical Therapy Approach To Ankle Braces

Ankle sprains are the most common recreational injuries that bring athletes to Sports rehabilitation. According to statistics, attendees of NJ Physical Therapy come with ankle injuries making up about 25% of all adult sports injuries. One way sports therapy works to combat ankle sprains; they utilize ankle braces as one of the most popular in resources to recovering during sports physical therapy. This allow for support during mobile movement such as jumping and cutting. In many “leg-intensive sports”, such as volleyball and basketball, ankles account for about 40% of all injuries. These athletes are particularly embraced with the use of prophylactic ankle braces. Certain coaches require that the athletes wear the ankle braces beyond sports physical therapy. Their philosophy is that even without the guidance of New Jersey Physical Therapist, the athlete should wear the ankle braces to protect themselves from further or re-occurring injury.
With the high rate of injury, what coach would risk talented athletes careers post sports therapy. By wearing ankle braces, this may psychologically remind the player to take pre-caution ...
... during their movements especially with ankles. The debate is: are braces really effective for reducing the risk of ankle sprains after athletic physical therapy? For healthy an active people, there are several studies that have not shown a benefit to wearing prophylactic braces. However, it have shown that wearing ankle braces pre and post sports therapy has helped in the reduction of severity of ankle sprains. In the case for re-injury, after an athlete leave NJ Physical Therapy, it does appear that ankle braces are effective. Within the first year of an injury a New Jersey Physical Therapist requests and requires that the player wear the ankle braces because of the level of sensitivity and caution needed to prevent re-injury. Ankle sprain rate double in the 1-2 years following the recovering of ankle injury in sports rehabilitation. Furthermore, 30-50% of the athletes who sprain their ankle can develop a chronic instability even after their experience in a Physical Therapy Center. Although athletes are trained and taught to use better judgment and habits, when the event occurs old habits may re-surface and cause further ankle injuries. A combination of bracing with specific ankle is likely the best course of action for preventing re-jury after sports rehabilitation.
Besides ankle braces, NJ Physical Therapy looks for a holistic approach to ensuring that the athlete is in shape for their competition. The idea is for the New Jersey Physical therapist to ensure that the player has better habits with their movement in their events. Even with the extensive training the athlete can undergo NJ Massage Therapy and meet an acupuncturist to be sure their bodies are ready for competition. Training and muscle tissues preparation are both required in sports therapy. They athlete needs to perform at their peak level just as if the injury never occurred.
