There are several forms of contraceptive methods that women can use to prevent unwanted pregnancies. One of the most effective birth control methods is the birth control ring, which can be up to 99% effective. The ring is supposed to be inserted into the woman’s vagina. From there, it releases the hormones estrogen and progesterone across the vaginal wall into the bloodstream. The ring is designed to fit comfortably into position so that the woman is not bothered as she goes about her daily activities. The hormones enter the woman’s bloodstream and work to prevent pregnancy in several ways.

The hormones from the birth control ring prevent the woman from ovulating. This means that she cannot conceive. The hormones also cause thickening of the cervical mucus so that sperms find it hard entering the uterus. Furthermore, the hormones cause thinning of the uterine lining so that any fertilized egg cannot be implanted there. All these actions combine to ensure that the woman does not become pregnant when she ...
... uses the birth control ring as a contraceptive. The woman can insert the ring easily by herself without having to go and see a doctor or nurse for the same.

When a woman uses the birth control ring, she will still get her regular periods, even though they may be shortened a bit. In case the woman decides to stop using the ring, she will resume normal ovulation immediately so she will be able to conceive if she does not use other forms of contraception. The use of the birth control ring has come to be associated with some side effects. First of all, the ring can cause some local irritation and the development of lesions on the walls of the vagina at the point at which it is inserted. This is due to a change in pH that causes the proliferation of some harmful bacteria.

Some women have also reported weight gain as a result of using the birth control ring but the increase is slight in most cases. Other mild side effects that have been reported include nausea, headache, light sensitivity and moodiness. These side effects usually wear off with time as the woman continues using the birth control ring. However, the abnormal formation of blood clots is one major side effect that is associated with the birth control ring. There have been several Nuvaring lawsuit settlements as a result of this major side effect.

The hormones released by the birth control ring have been shown to increase the risk of clot formation. These clots commonly form in the deep veins and are very dangerous in case they get dislodged and start travelling through the bloodstream. They are known to case pulmonary embolism, strokes and heart attacks. There have been several Nuvaring lawsuit settlements as a result of these. If you use the birth control ring and you experience these side effects, you can file a Nuvaring lawsuit 2012 so that you get compensated for having suffered after using this contraceptive.
