Home has a heart and it's called 'kitchen'. What's the heart of kitchen called? Well it's a kitchen table. A kitchen table is the heart of the kitchen as the meals are prepared for the whole of the family. A kitchen table is also used as a dining space where the family comes together to share it's food and spends quality time on the table. A kitchen table should be placed strategically to reinforce its status as the heart of the area. It should have an equal distance from the cooking area, the storage space, the sink and the refrigerator.
What really makes for a great kitchen table?
A kitchen table would be great only if it meets certain requirements.
Firstly, a kitchen table has to be made out of strong material since a kitchen table is more prone to rough and tough usage than other tables in the house. The table would be subjected to warm pans, knives, heavy utensils and damp vegetables and other food stuff. If the table is not strong enough to bear heavy weights and so much movement, it wouldn't fulfill its purpose properly. It should have strong legs to be able to support so much pressure.
The ...
... kitchen table should be easy to clean too. It shouldn't be made of any such material that absorbs moisture. Moisture seepage would mean bacterial growth and that would ultimately make for an unhygienic place to cook or eat at. Bacterial growth would make the kitchen table unhygienic and also weaken it's base and inside making it prone to breakage and damage and hence, shortening it's life.
A kitchen table must be of optimum size. It should neither be too small nor be too big for the kitchen. It should gel well with the rest of the décor and not look as if it's eating up the whole space. It should have ample space to allow all the stocks of the kitchen- cook ware, eating utensils, crockery etc. to sit. It should have a proper place for cooking and eating too.
Keeping in mind the qualities that a kitchen table must have, laminate countertops seem like a good option for kitchen spaces as they can stand against damage and are anti-bacterial. Laminate countertops are strong, have a long life and are stain-resistant as opposed to traditional counter tops. Since, laminates do not allow seepage of water and food items, they make for an easy to maintain area which is absolutely hygienic and sturdy. Wood laminate, especially, makes for an extremely intelligent choice for a kitchen table as it stands against all odds that a kitchen table is subjected to and looks classy and just awesome!
