Top Causes Of Car Accidents

A lot of people are afraid of flying to the point that they would avoid it completely or employ sedating substances to dull the sensation of being on air. But the truth of the matter is road mishaps have higher statistics than plane crashes. As we’ve become a very industrialized and technological environment, being inside a land vehicle is just as common as any human ritual such as eating and sleeping. This is why more and more car accidents are being reported daily.
F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote in The Great Gatsby that, “It takes two to make an accident.” But, actually, as our world evolves, so do the unwritten rules surrounding it. These days so many diverse things can cause car accidents.
Here are some causes of car accidents that are not necessarily in order of ranking.
Drunk Driving
With the advent of MADD or Mothers Against Drunk Driving, US states have come up with more stringent laws against drunk driving. Fact is less and less accidents on account of drunk driving are being reported. Even bars and pubs are more alert of possible drunk drivers by having services such as calling a cab for ...
... you when you are too drunk to drive.
Still, despite these precautionary measures, drunk driving is still one of the top causes of car accidents. As long as there are stubborn people in denial of the level of their intoxication, we’ll never see drunk driving on a manageable level.
Speeding
As with anything, haste makes waste. And in car accidents caused by going way over the speed limit, speeding makes waste of lives. It’s bad enough that you are risking your life when you over-speed in some thrill-seeking adventure of yours, but you are also involving other parties in your car accident waiting to happen. Lack of control is the number one problem of speeding. And driving is all about being in control.
Car Breakdown
We have heard of cars being recalled by their manufacturers due to a defect in some parts of their vehicles. Despite the many developments and advancements in the name of safety, human and computer glitches are still very common.
But car manufacturers are not the only one to blame in the breakdown of cars. Owners themselves are just as culpable of causing cars accidents. Irregular maintenance checks can cause brake failure, thinning of tire threads, over and under tire inflation, broken taillights and busted headlights. Drivers are just as responsible for the upkeep of their cars as the manufacturers are to the vehicles they sell.
Aggressive/Reckless Drivers
The NYS Police brand these descriptions as the type of aggressors on the road. Those who change lanes in a very irresponsible manner are a type of aggressive driving. This is especially more heightened when they don’t use their signal lights to indicate moving lanes. Tailgating is also a reckless act as no one can ever predict what the car in front will do. Tailgating is a senseless feat that actually achieves nothing but car accidents.
