MMA is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. This may be due in part to the combination of martial arts techniques from around the globe and the fact that it is high intensity. Whether you are a new comer to the sport or are a veteran, it is important that you have the right MMA gear for practicing and for matches. Having the right gear is essential to staying safe while enjoying the sport. There are a few categories you will want to look at.

MMA Clothing

It is important to have the right clothing when you are in MMA. The shorts you wear should be loose enough to give you the ability to move freely, yet not enough to give your opponent the upper edge by being able to sit on them. When you are training, you may also want to wear sweatshirts and beanies which will help you to get in a better workout and keep your core temperature high.

MMA Gloves/ Hand wraps

When you are looking at MMA Gear, it is also important that you have gloves and hand wraps for your gym bag as well. You should keep in mind that there is a difference between MMA gloves and training gloves. It is best to have both types ...
... of gloves as well as wraps so you are prepared for whatever the instructor throws at you.

MMA Pads

If you want to keep your body protected, it is important that you have the appropriate padding. Now you can find pads for your elbows, shins, knees, head and more. While these each have their place, it can be hard to fight with all of these on. However, especially when you are starting out and learning good blocking techniques it is especially beneficial to wear them. Even if you do not feel that you need to wear them all the time, you should buy them and keep these items on hand in the event you are injured to keep from getting hurt worse.

Mouth guards

If you want to protect your teeth and tongue from getting damaged while you train and fight, it is essential that you have a good mouth guard. Even if it does not seem like a necessary expense, keep in mind that it is cheaper than having to go to the dentist.

Miscellaneous MMA Gear

There are many other options that you can look at when you are finding the right MMA gear or other martial arts style gear to add to your gym bag. Much of this will depend on what you are studying. For instance, if you are working on JiuJitsu, you will want to get the appropriate gi and belt. It can also be helpful to have post training lotion to help your muscles after the workout is over. It is also a good idea to invest in barrier foam as this will help to protect you from any bacteria or harmful substances that can be on the mat you are working on.
