Over the years, baby competitions have become one of the far more popular on-line types of competitions, exceeding even car competitions. There are numerous reasons for this - some very interesting - and all of which we will talk about in this article.

The primary reasons, although definitely not the only ones, for the increase in baby competitions are as follows:

The first reason is that over the last 10 years or so, the amount of money invested in baby products has been on a continuous rise. It’s not that in earlier years parents spent less on their children but more that today, thanks to the web, there are so many baby products that have come to the attention of parents, whom now have a much wider range to choose from. Also, seeing how all parents - regardless of their financial situation - want only the best for their kids, the buying of baby products is on the rise. Ok, so how is this related to baby competitions you must be asking? Well, more baby products and a larger target audience means more competitiveness between the numerous baby product companies, and when the competition between companies increases ...
... then they also increase their advertising efforts which, among other advertising techniques, includes the use of Online Competitions – therefore the increase of baby competitions.

The second reason is parent perception: Have you ever met a mother or father who does not think that their baby is the most gorgeous baby of them all? Well, me neither. The wonderful thing about parents is that they all believe that their newborn is the cutest baby of them all. This of course makes it much easier for companies to get parents to enter their children into these competitions seeing how they all think that they will surely win. Which parent would not want to show off to their friends and say: “my baby won a the national beautiful baby competition!”

The second reason is plain, simple fun: This might seem like a simple and obvious reason, but the fact is that baby competitions, like many other types of Competitions are fun. What could be more fun than dressing up your baby in sweet clothes and taking pretty pictures of him/her? Sp, in addition to maybe winning a great prize you also get to take some beautiful pictures of your baby which makes it a winning situation for everyone involved.

The third reason is potential profit: Another common reason that people often forget is the fact that baby Competitions can often help bring in added income. As mentioned, the various baby product companies do a lot of advertising on TV, magazines and the Internet, and these include pictures of babies in them. If you have a sweet baby that has won a competition, then not only will the parent have won a winning prize, but it will usually be easier to get a contract with an advertising agent and participate in various advertisements which in turn make a lot of money. This of course motivates parents to enter their babies into the competitions.

The fourth reason is a Large Audience and their interaction: As opposed to a cooking course or a bungee jump prize that not everyone might be interested in winning, most people have some sort of connection with babies and therefore are more open to interacting in baby competitions. Why? Well, basically everybody loves seeing cute baby pictures (don’t you?) or has a baby cousin/brother/sister or child of their own – so they are somehow linked and then when they are asked to vote for one of the babies they don't mind helping out and getting involved. Generally, what this means is that the social participation in baby competitions is much greater than most other types of competitions. The companies that run competitions are of course interested in having as many participants as possible so the fact that baby competitions bring in a lot of traffic is a huge advantage and another cause for the rise in these competitions.

Although there are many more reasons for the rise in the amount of baby competitions, the above reasons are the main ones and give a fair general understanding.

What do you usually need in order to enter a baby competition? You need to have a baby or be represent a family member that has one and most times you need to be older than 18 years of age. Most of the competitions are free of charge and many a time you can find baby competitions on Winthis.co.za.
