Competition among children is increasing day by day; it is becoming harder for your child to be the best. Each child is special and he/she have their own areas of interest. As a parent, you should help your children discover their interests by paying attention to the extra-curricular activities they choose.

Make your children aware of the vast opportunities available to them. Just because they may not show any interest in an activity that you force them to take does not mean they are not creative. It implies that the particular activity they are made to do is not their area of expertise as it does not interest them. Every talented kid likes to do what he or she is passionate about.

Spend some time with your child, ask more questions to know what makes them happy. Find out more about them by planning special family projects, your child can develop a liking for certain things. Avoid comparing your child with other children; each child is different and so are their interests. A talented kid will never get bored of nurturing his or her unique talents.

... interest you, Your child will be influenced by you. Don’t criticize on how they think, they may give up their talent or passion if they are discouraged and constantly picked on. However, if your talented kid has a wrong perspective, be the first to correct them. Share your work life and past experiences; speak to them about the mistakes you had once made so that they do not make the same mistakes. Discuss the daily news regarding various fields to develop interests and create better awareness.

It is extremely good to make your children dream big and have high expectations, but be realistic and grounded. Introduce them to successful and capable people to seek advice and gain inspiration.

Praise your child when you see an improvement in comparison to their past performance. This will increase his/her confidence and motivate them to do better next time; also praise them when you see a sense of responsibility.

Encourage your children to do their best, and most importantly do what they like, whether sports or literature; at the same time, encourage them to tackle their difficulties and confront their limitations as this will make them feel more confident than ever. Strive to make your children shine in any field they may choose by supporting the decisions they make and by giving them the guidance they require. Most importantly, accept your children the way they are.
