Educational Activities – Their Role In A Child’s Growth

“Childs play” is a phrase often used to denote things that are trivial or simple in nature. In reality, child’s play is a crucial part of your kid’s growth process. It is the way through which the child explores the world around him and ultimately forms his opinions about the things he encounters in life. And if you include the right sort of educational activities in your child’s play, it will greatly improve his ability to learn new things.
From the day of their birth, children constantly try to learn new things and try to make sense of the mostly incomprehensible world around them. There are different types of educational activities, which will help the child in understanding various concepts, increasing the knowledge on different subjects, honing their imaginative skills, and learning new crafts. Following are some ideas for helping your child to learn through fun and play.
Bring books to life: Choose a book that is your child’s favourite and take him to a field trip, which may be in context with the theme of the book. If he has a liking for knights and battles, then you may take him to a museum ...
... that showcases the armours, weapons, and other equipments used during a famous war. If his favourite story features animals, then a trip to the nearby zoo might cheer him up. Learning that a Giraffe is a very tall animal with spots all over its body is educational, and seeing the actual animal with its long neck peeping outside the cage is far more exciting for the child. So know your child’s interest, and take him to some place that might help him know more about the subject.
Beach picnics: Beaches have a lot to offer not only in way of recreation but also for education. The vast stretches of sand and the deep blue sea can cater to both physical and academic pleasures. Take a jar along with you and ask your child to collect all those things he finds interesting and intriguing and explain in detail about all the items collected by him. You can teach him to swim, build sand castles, play beach ball or any such game, teach him about the birds, fishes, crabs and other life forms, and also teach him to help in cleaning the beach by picking up rubbish and putting them in the trash.
Backyard fun: For those of you who do not have the time or means to go out of your house, there are some excellent educational activities that you can pursue in your backyard. You can ask the child to paint the yard, collect plants and flowers, name insects, create a mini pool, and build tree houses. You can also invite the neighbours to join in the fun.
