Cloning: Bliss Or Curse For Mankind?
For so many years the medical scientists are working to make human clones to create a new you. May be trying to be the new God? If we can produce what we want and when we want, then it seems like we can control of creation and balance the whole world. Man's wish came true with the development of the genetic engineering. Man acquired the tool for duplication, and that is cloning. For past few years we heard a lot about cloning animals like sheep and mice. It's a really interesting to know about cloning and the process related to it. Cloning can create an organism that is an exact copy of its donor. This means that every single bit of DNA is the same between the two.
The supportive part
Molecular cloning refers to the procedure of isolating a defined DNA sequence and obtaining multiple copies of it in vivo. Cloning is frequently employed to amplify DNA fragments containing genes, but it can be used to amplify any DNA sequence such as promoters, non-coding sequences and randomly fragmented DNA. It is utilized in a wide array of biological experiments and practical applications such as large scale protein production. ...
... Occasionally, the term cloning is misleadingly used to refer to the identification of the chromosomal location of a gene associated with a particular phenotype of interest, such as in positional cloning. Couple with a lost child or people with other possible good reasons are in thorough support of cloning.
Objections of DNA Cloning
Many objections to reproductive DNA cloning relate to aspects of genetic determinism and to the presumed loss of an open future for children who are clones. Genetic determinism presupposes that our personalities, behaviors, talents, and interests are determined exclusively by our genetic inheritance. Opponents of reproductive DNA cloning fear the resulting children will not be able to live fully independent lives. Opponents fear these children's choices will be constrained in numerous ways and assert that an open future - which is a right of every child - will never be possible for a child who is a clone.
The after effect on the cloned child
The child himself may experience self-imposed limitations and concerns about his individuality. He may wonder whether his parents love him for himself or because he is a copy of a loved one. The child may wonder whether he is in fact an individual or merely a copy of the DNA source. If the child perceives himself primarily as a copy he may consciously or unconsciously mimic, to the best of his ability, the characteristics of the DNA source. Or he may he or she become rebellious and develops behaviors and interests contrary to those he believe are possessed by the DNA donor. In either situation the child's autonomy - his ability to make his own choices - is constrained by prior knowledge. He believes his destiny revolves around who the DNA source is and what the DNA cloning has done. An open future is denied him by the very fact of his existence.
