If you have found an open college uk that offers all manner of home study courses, from a teacher assistant course to childcare courses, you may already be tempted to join. Studying from home seems to be the easy option for many people – the ability to study when you want to, choosing to skip a day if it doesn’t suit you to study and much more besides. But as you will see, there are obstacles to studying in this way and it pays to know how to avoid them.

For starters if you live with other people you’ll need to be aware you will get interrupted from time to time. However you can reduce the odds of this happening by letting everyone know when your study times are. You should also think about studying in a quiet part of the house where you won’t be disturbed.

Another big obstacle is the temptation to do anything but study! To begin with you will probably feel quite motivated to study. But once the early excitement wears off you may be more tempted to slack. This can be combated by trying to provide rewards once you have fitted in your study. For example you could go for a long walk or buy a new magazine or ...
... book to read. There are lots of ways to get the studying done for your teacher assistant course without finding it a drag. We all have our ways of inspiring ourselves to do things. You just have to find yours.

You may also struggle with studying if you currently do shift work. People who work regular hours can slot studying in more easily for their open college uk course. But if you work odd hours it may take longer to develop a routine. You may have to have an hour for study in the mornings when you are on a late shift and swap to evening study when you work an early shift. Remember there are always solutions so you can expect to find a solution to your current obstacles too, no matter how challenging they might be.

Another obstacle can occur if you fall ill or go on holiday and cannot study for a while. In this situation it is possible to find it difficult to get back into your normal routine when you return home or get well again. In this case give yourself a day or two to return to your usual job before adding in the studying again. It can be tiring doing this alone – trying to study as well is a recipe for disaster.

All in all though, once you have conquered these obstacles you will find home study to be a rewarding and fruitful course of action to take.
