Are you dissatisfied with your current job? If you are it can often seem as if there is no way out. You may be working from nine to five or doing shift work and it could seem like you don’t have the time to even look for another job, let alone study for one. You may not even be able to because you’d have to leave work in order to retrain at college – and that means you’d have no cash coming in.

But there are solutions. One of the most popular ways to study nowadays as far as busy people are concerned is to opt for home study. You can get childcare qualifications by studying in this way, going to teaching assistant level 3 and beyond. You can gain all kinds of other qualifications too, so whatever new career you have set your eyes on this could be the way towards it.

There are plenty of advantages to studying in this way too, not least the amount of freedom it offers. You can enjoy working towards your new career while still staying in your current job, so you will have the security ...
... of knowing you still have earnings coming in. You can also study when it suits you to do so. Some people study for childcare qualifications at the weekend, while working an office job during the week. Other people hold down a job involving shift work and study for teaching assistant level 3 in the times where they are at home. This could mean studying in the morning one day and during the evening a couple of days later.

The other main benefit of home study is that you can fit your studying in around other commitments too. Say for example you have young children. You can study in the evenings once they have gone to bed, so you have the peace and quiet you need to concentrate.

Most people find it takes a period of adjustment to settle into a new routine that incorporates their study time. It may be necessary to make changes during this time, even if you start with a new schedule of some kind. Be prepared to do this because it could make your home study periods even easier to accommodate.

The main thing to remember though is that a chance at a new career will be waiting for you at the end of it. Once you have the qualifications you want you can look for new jobs that are more rewarding than the one you currently have. This could be the best thing you ever do, so it is worth considering all the options and selecting a career you’d love to study for.
