You Don't Always Have To Be The First

Everyone is always looking for that new idea. You want to be able to make the next Ipod or the next revolutionary product release. The people who help to change and shape the market are the ones people are always looking to, and who people always say you want to be like. When these new products come out the marketing and color printing they get done always point out how new and never before seen this product is.
If you have a great idea for something people have never seen before than by all means, go for it, but how often do you have ideas like that? Releasing something like the Ipod isn't an easy thing to do, and the majority of companies aren't coming up with anything like it.
But the thing of it is, you really don't have to. Sometimes following behind someone else who is revolutionizing the market allows you to capitalize on their success.
Think about the introduction of the cell phone as a major force within our society. You might not be the company that made the cell phone, but consider all those companies who started coming out with accessories for it. Think ...
... about companies who started up a business selling ring tones.
All of them were able to achieve great success by taking someone else's revolutionary idea and cashing in on it. The same goes for the Ipod and all those other mp3 players that have been released since at a more affordable price. They didn't start the mp3 boom, but they're able to generate a lot of business and sales because of it.
A lot of what this boils down to is being aware of the marketplace and what everyone else is doing. See what new products are being released and try to look ahead to how those products are going to change things. That's exactly what the people making ring tones did. They could see that people were going to want to customize all those cell phones being released, and a ring tone is just another way of customizing it.
All of this is perfectly viable as a means of starting up a company or expanding your own into another market. Just because the product you're releasing isn't the newest thing around doesn't mean people aren't going to have interest in buying it, and sometimes you can find a very innovative means of accessorizing an already existing product.
Make sure your color printing properly emphasizes the existing product in order to draw upon its success in boosting your own. Not only do you benefit from your own marketing, but also from all the marketing the other company did to initially promote their product.
If you have your eye on the market and can see where things are heading, you don't always need a new product to generate those sales.
